According to data from NHANES, a staggering 93% of Americans are not metabolically healthy. Conventionally, managing metabolic health issues such as weight, blood pressure, glucose, and lipid levels has involved lifelong dependence on multiple drugs. However, recent innovations in lifestyle medicine, particularly using patented fasting-mimicking diets (FMD), have shown remarkable outcomes. Multiple clinical trials demonstrated significant improvements using MFD in addressing the root causes of obesity, insulin resistance, endothelial dysfunction, and type 2 diabetes. By integrating the principle that "food is medicine" with a university-tested protocol for drug de-escalation, these advancements in nutri-technology offer clinicians a new pathway to achieving remission in type 2 diabetes and restoring metabolic health.
*Continuing Education credit is not being offered for this session
Learning Objectives:
Examine the clinical evidence and cellular physiology underlying the fasting-mimicking diet (FMD).
Implement drug de-escalation protocols to safely reduce diabetes medications in conjunction with FMD.
Incorporate FMD into standard care practices for patients with metabolic disorders.
