Dr. Safeer currently leads the Healthy at Hopkins employee health and well-being strategy. He has decades of experience in this space and has spoken nationally on the topic. His book, "A Cure for the Common Company, A Prescription for a Happier, Healthier and More Resilient Workforce", is set to be released in January 2023.
Richard completed his B.S. in Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University before graduating from medical school at the S.U.N.Y. Buffalo. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Franklin Square Hospital Center, in Baltimore, and a Faculty Development Fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University. He is certified in Clinical Lipidology by the National Lipidology Association. Prior to Hopkins, Dr. Safeer practiced family medicine in Northern Virginia. He was then on faculty at George Washington University. He was the Medical Director of Concentra Occupational Health and Wellness Director for the Mid-Atlantic region before starting at CareFirst BCBS as Medical Director of Preventive Medicine. He is a former board member of the ACLM and is a fellow of the AAFP, ACLM and ACPM.
