Dr. Devyani Hunt is a Professor and the Chief of the division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University and a diplomat of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. She also serves as a team physician for St. Louis City Soccer Club. Dr. Hunt received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with honors at the University of Texas in Austin. She completed medical school at the University of Texas in Houston and her residency at Northwestern at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. She then completed a fellowship in Sports and Spine at Washington University in 2004 and stayed on as faculty in the Orthopedics department. She is currently the medical director of the Washington University Living Well Center; a clinic focused on integrating musculoskeletal health and lifestyle changes through an inter-professional approach to wellness. The center addresses patients’ co morbidities, including obesity, diabetes, cardiac disease and mental health issues that are often the barrier to patients’ long term successwith their musculoskeletal disorder. She commonly diagnosis and treats patients with complex medical disorders and chronic impairments for which there is not a clear cut diagnosis or management plan. In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice that includes managing patients with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, her clinical research focuses on behavioral health, sleep, pain and function in patients with chronic disorders as well as sports medicine, pre-arthritic hip disorders, hip and spine disorders, performing arts medicine and gender specific disorders as they relate to the musculoskeletal system. Her work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications, presentations at national and international conferences, and extra-mural funding.
