Faith Nyong, a dedicated nurse researcher and faith community nurse, has emerged as a beacon of health and wellness within the African American community. Recognizing the stark health disparities faced by her community, Faith took decisive action by founding the Fox Valley Faith & Health Network. Through this innovative initiative, Faith has spearheaded efforts to establish health ministries in 15 African American churches, fostering a culture of health and wellness while providing vital education, screenings, and resources for sustainable lifestyle changes. Faith's remarkable achievements have garnered widespread acclaim, with her results-oriented approach earning her prestigious accolades such as the City of Aurora Mayoral Health Care Hero Award and the Orchid Award. Her dynamic leadership was further highlighted by her role in leading the largest Chicagoland Gospel Run 5K Team, comprising 300 members, earning 1st place recognition. Notably, Faith's commitment to community health has been acknowledged by Congressman Bill Foster, who honored her with the "Taking Back Our Community – Outstanding Neighbor Award." Beyond local recognition, Faith's influence extends nationally, with appearances on ABC-7 News and WGN-9. Her expertise was sought after by the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network, where she moderated a critical discussion on inclusion in clinical trials. Faith's impact transcends mere recognition; she raises awareness and advocates for policy changes, exemplified by her five invitations to Washington, DC, to promote increased access to clinical trials for cancer patients. In a landmark collaboration with Rochester Lifestyle Medicine, Faith co-authored a groundbreaking article, "A Whole Food Plant-Based Program in an African American Faith-Based Population," showcasing her dedication to evidence-based interventions. Faith's tireless advocacy, coupled with her unwavering commitment to health equity, serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for communities nationwide.
