Linda Shiue, MD, Chef, Dip ABLM is a physician double-boarded in internal medicine physician and lifestyle medicine, a professionally trained chef, and the Director of Culinary Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, where she founded Thrive Kitchen, a teaching kitchen for patients and a new consultation service in lifestyle medicine and culinary medicine coaching. She believes that the best medicine is prevention. Her cooking classes showcase seasonal produce, lavishly flavored with spices and fresh herbs. Her first cookbook, Spicebox Kitchen, was a 2022 Gold Award Winner in the Nautilus Book Awards and a Finalist in the 2022 IACP Awards. Her food writing has been published widely and she has been interviewed frequently on television, radio and in print. Dr. Shiue is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, where she co-founded a culinary medicine elective for medical students. She serves on the boards of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, Meals on Wheels of San Francisco and the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative. She is a graduate of Brown University, San Francisco Cooking School, UCSF and the kitchen of Michelin-starred restaurant, Mourad, in San Francisco and has a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from Cornell University.
