Elizabeth Helzner, PhD, MS, DipACLM Is chair of the SUNY Downstate Committee on Plant-based Health & Nutrition. She is Associate Professor and Interim Chair of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Downstate's School of Public Health, and directs the Public Health Geriatrics program. Dr. Helzner is a chronic disease epidemiologist with research specialties in aging epidemiology and neuroepidemiology. Dr. Helzner has first-hand experience with the health benefits of plant-based nutrition. She is actively involved in expanding nutrition education for the healthcare workforce, evaluating plant-based nutrition interventions for health and wellness, and developing community-based approaches to increase access to plant-based nutrition for chronic disease prevention and treatment.
