George Guthrie, MD, MPH, CDE, FAAFP, DipABLM, FACLM

Dr. George E. Guthrie received his MD degree from Loma Linda University in 1981 and is double boarded in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Through the years he has practiced in Guam where he set up the Guam chapter of the AAFP, the rural Sierra mountain’s of California, rural Oklahoma, and now in the Orlando, Florida area. Experience in rural, international as well as undergraduate and graduate medical education have been part of his varied career. An interest in lifestyle medicine and nutrition led to an MPH in nutrition as well as involvement with the development and leadership of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
In 2007, he joined Florida Hospital’s (now Advent Health’s) Family Practice residency, where he guides medical residents in outpatient family and lifestyle medicine. He recently published his first book with Advent Health Press, Eat Plants, Feel Whole.
Although Dr. Guthrie and Dena have no children of their own, they were privileged to guide a Marshallese islander, Heidi, through her teenage years. They enjoy making music, and Dr. Guthrie is adept at interpreting gospel songs and hymns on keyboard instruments.
